help!! i'm new to this. i've been succesfully backing up/playing dvd's but i've hit a snag. my burner cant read king kong or curse of the were rabbit. both disks are originals. my pc says there is no disk in the drive after it whirs around for a few minutes!
any help would be very appreciated. thanks

did you try a reboot..... and see if the drive recognizes the disks? Or I would uninstall the drive and then reinstall the drive and see if it's working properly. Has your drive reverted back to PIO mode instead of DMA? if so read this:

try cleaning the disks and see if that helps. Check for fingerprints, scratchs, lint.... after cleaning try again.
hi all.
there's no driver included as xp automatically recognises drive.
using dvdfab dydcrypter and DVD Shrink, however i cant get to the point where the burner reads any data!
if i'm in windows media player even that wont recognise the disk!
tried the pio/dma thing as suggested but still no difference.
crazy eh !!
try those programs free for 21 days on that movie,and report back

hi guys
tried the programs but still no joy!!
i think the problem is that my burner doesn't recognise that there is a disk in the drive so there is nothing to copy or play.
all other disks are fine, this problem has only happened with kong and narnia. any other suggestions ????

The CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device
To make sure that the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is recognized as a recordable drive, make sure that the Recording tab appears in the CD drive properties:
1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. Right-click the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive, click Properties, and then look for the Recording tab.
If the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recording drive by Windows XP, but the drive is recognized only as a CD-ROM, confirm that the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is compatible with Windows XP. (For example, confirm that the drive is compatible with Windows XP if the Recording tab does not appear.) To do this, see the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).
