Hey everyone, i was just wondering if USBeXtreme can be used on the fat ps2, because it was intended to be used with he slim ps2 because of no hard drive bay right? well anyways im not really sure, but i was just wondering because i only have one hard drive slot on my computer so i cant really use winhiip, so i wanted to use USBeXtreme and an external usb hdd instead, this may be a stupid question......but can it be done?
FAT PS2's recognize mass storage devices (AKA USB drives). So, USBXtreme is perfectly useable with basically every PS2 out there. Although, since you have a FAT one, you should consider using a normal HD as HDLoader is a lot more compatible and FASTER than USBXtreme. Not having an extra HD bay is not a problem actually. Since the HD I going to be in your PC for a short while, you can just have it at the bottom of the case while you work with it. So, my advice: forget about USBXtreme and get yourself HDloader :)
Yes, there is but it soooo slow, I wouldn't ever bother mentioning it. You can always buy a good USB enclosure for about 20 bucks and transfer the games with it instead of opening your case every time.
ok so will i need any new kind of software so i can install the ps2 games to the hard drive with the usb enclosure? sorry if im asking to many questions, but im glad your helpong me out :)
If you're using XP, the drive should be recognized as if it were just another IDE drive. And no extra stuff would be required. XP does the configuration through Plug and Play. Same process as with the drive connected to an IDE channel. Although it will obviously not be as fast as the IDE channel. But, it's decent speeds. I can put a game every 4-7 minutes, which isn't bad (12MBps, it depends on the game's size though).
haha, ok thx a lot 4 your help, really appreciate it, but my last question is, can hdloader play backups? because if not should i just go get out and get hdadvance?
