I can install the flip top no promblem but 2 questions is that just the dvd top or the whole top cover? also is that all i need to run my backups in england? because i heard that u need to adjust laser 12v or some stuff. Thanx

You don't need to adjust the laser. The fliptop is the whole top cover, i.e. for the old PS2 it's around where the controller/memory card slot is up.

If you are bringing it to England I assume you have a PAL version PS2, so make sure to get that and not the US version of swap magic, because it won't work.

Slide tool involves you taking off the front cover of the disc tray, and using it to drag the tray out. Personally I don't think it's that much damage to the PS2, as the motor for the tray shouldn't be charged when it's not used. However fliptop is a LOT easier to use (although it does involve opening the PS2 and hence voiding the warranty), so that's my suggestion if you want to get swap magic discs :)

Yep, fliptop and swap magic PAL version.

Also you'll want to double check what version is his PS2. Because different versions need different fliptops. Have a look here: http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2version.htm

Have a look here: http://www.linker4u.com/images/item_links_downloads/menu.doc

The diagram is for a V9 I believe, but it'll be similar for the different versions. Again you need to check what version your cousin's got, because the fliptops vary slightly for the different versions

The fliptop for a PS2 is actually really easy to install, you'll have to be careful when you do that, but I had absolutely no problem when I installed a fliptop a while ago, and I still think it's far superior to a slidetool.

As for where to get one, can't help on that but all I can say is have a search around the net and see what you can find :)
