What browser? If it IE, go to Tools > Internet Options. Click on the Connections tab. Then the LAN Settings button. You'll see a check box for proxy settings. Uncheck it.

Hi dolphin2, thank you for your help.
Utorrent states a warning signal and that my browser is setup to connect through a proxy and that my port cannot be checked (to see if its open)
I forwarded it a long time ago and it has been fine until now as i changed my isp.lan settings show no no boxes ticked, I have adsl 512/125.
Macey.

Are you running a firewall? If so, you should be able to open the port within that.

Windows firewall is off, when it is on utorrent port is already listed as an exception. Windows defender has been disabled, i really cant think of any thing else that i might be running, i use norton antivirus corperate edition as my anti virus, but im not sure if that has a firewall, i have looked but cant seem to find anything relating to it as a fire wall. It seems i am capped to a 10kB/s when using utorrent at the moment, when it reaches 10 it drops back down to 8 then climbs to 10 again.
when in utorrent>options>speed guide> check port, i get this error:

Welcome to the ”Torrent Port Checker.
A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.

Checking port 32459 on xxx.xx.xxx.xx...

Warning! Port 32459 can not be checked. Your browser is setup to connect through a proxy. This script will not work through proxied connections.

Please see www.portforward.com for more information if you need to map a port.

(I have altered the ip for this thread)
thanks for you help:)

Are you running a router of any kind? Any other firewall (other than the Windows one)? Your Norton maybe blocking it, I don't know. I'm not a fan of Norton products and refuse to have them on my machine, but that's a different subject.

Could your ASDL modem be blocking it? Check with your service provider.

I'm not a fan of Bit Torrents and don't use them so I don't know really how much I can help. Perhaps changing the Security setting within the browser to allow the web site (my understanding is that the browser has to be open to a site to connect)?
