For the last month or so dvd shrink has been going so slow when encoding. My computer spazzed out and my dvd rom drive and rewrite drive dissapeared from my computer. I fixed them and there back and running. Ever since then they work so slow. It used to take twenty to thirty minutes, now it takes and hour and a half. I tried the solution of primary and secondary ide channel settings to dma but still dosen't work. HELP ME

Did you uninstall the drivers for these channels and reboot or did you just reset the drives to DMA?

Also run this utility and see if your ASPI layer is corrupt:

thats another problem with my pc everything is running so high. when you go to task manager and go to processing, everything is running in the thousands not the hundreds, but thats another problem.

To answer the questions, i use roxio to burn, that only takes a couple of minutes, its the encoding part that takes along time now.

I did uninstall them and rebooted, i'll try running that utility see if my ASPI layer is corrupt

Have you run a spyware/adware scanner lately? They (spyware and adware) often install process that really eat up system resources.

If you haven't, here are some options:

Microsoft Windows Defender
Lavasoft's AdAware SE (I use this one)
SpyBot Search and Destroy (this one too)

Antec TX1050B Case w/500W Power Supply
ASUS P4P800SE
Intel P4 HT 3.2 OC'd 3.85
Zalman CNPS9500 Heatsink/CPU Fan
4GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR RAM
Nvidia 6800 OC'd
500GB SATA Raid 0
Lite-On 832 DVD
HP 740b DVD
