Very sorry, problem is solved by being patient. Now, after some time it turns back to normal. I was impatient...

After I defragged Windows XP Professional, "hide inactive icons" feature on the system tray does not work...
Then I make a system restore to an earlier date and it turns back to normal (the feature works).
What can cause this problem?
