No, Philips and Ritek are two separate companies, Ritek manufactured DVDs will show up with various labels/brands. Check out this link to see many of the relabelling going on in the DVD media world. Ritek G-04 are good disks, you lucked out getting those disks versus the more common CMC MAG cancer disks. Here is a good read.

and another one for really good media.

right but phillips doesnt make their own discs they have someone else do it like sometimes you will get cmc-mag...cheapo...or ritek like you just got...which are top notch discs...but i shop at supermedia so that way i know exactly what im getting everytime..i got tired of going to stores playing grab bag...never know what you'll get with some of that media even its from a trusted manufacturer.

Philips has many people make their disks for them, the previous links I posted show how many disk labels are made by Ritek, I have bought Philips in the past and they are made my either CMC MAG, RItek, Longten(or something like that), Matrix, Verbatim, CMC Mags, I'm not sure how many different companies make DVD media but I don't think there are more than 20, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Gang for your great Input..
Sad to say my first burn with this Media is not too good and full of CRC Errors too..
I am wondering if My Firmware take a while to get used to New Media as I had a few bad burns when I first started using Verbatim and then it seemed to level out to almost perfect??
Here is my first burn with Ritek.G405,s

Is your firmware updated? That is a pretty poor scan for a Ritek, I've always had really good results with them. Keep us posted on the results of your future burns.

I am glad to hear that because I have a Spindle to burn, however my Burner seesm to like the Verbs better,I am just wondering if it takes a few Writes with new Media to get comfortable,I can remember when I first tried Verbatim Media, my CRC and Pif rates where deplorable,I like the Printability Factor of the Riteks, so heres hoping..

wow i had some many complaints using the world famous Verbatims from some of my friends who i let hold a backup or two ..they had problems from stuff like skipping, pausing or just plain out stopping all together however with the Ritek's everyone 1 of them plays fine all the way over & over again...i recently bought some TYG02's DVD-R from supermedia...those are good too.

Wow those ritek scans are awful. I'd be very suprised if those backups played all the way through error free. On average verbatim media performs better than ritek. Note I said on average. Everybody's circumstances, situation, and setup are different. It may just take your drive a while to learn a write strategy for your riteks. If you don't see improvements after 10 or 15 burns I would suggest switching back to verbatim or ty's before the write strats get screwed up for them. It is also possible you just got a bad batch of riteks. I've also heard of some problems with the ritek G05 printables.

Make sure your f/w is current and try different burn speeds.

Phillips does make some of their own media (phillips 041 dvd+rw's for example) but it is rare. Good luck.

Here's a verbatim (MCC003) burned with my benq dw1650 at 8x.

I run LG burners and they burn the Ritek GO5`s without a prob at 8x. Only coasters I have ever had with them have been due to my error,I also use the full face printables. Can only suggest to try burning at 8x.

I must say that I am starting to get used to the Ritek GO5,s in the Phillips Pack,
Do burners take a bit of time to develop a "Write Strategy" as someone stated in this String???If so this explains why my burns seem to get better after each one when I try new blank media???
I will sat this, the PIF Rates and PIs are not quite as low as Verbatims, but they still play the same so I guess at the end of the day that is the main Criteria..
I just love making those fancy DVD Boxes with the right Artwork for my movies and printing printable DVDs in my Printer, so I eagerly await the arrival of Verbatim Glossies, incidentally have they hit the U.S Market yet???If so I would love to hear how they "print up"
I envisage them looking like a "Million Dollars"..
TX and Kia Ora from lil oll New Zealand...
