After learning of the DVD Identifier, I ran an old DVD+R through it.
Turns out it's on 'Ricoh' DVD+R. The image seems fine . . . at this point . . . What's the collective experience with Ricoh DVD+R good or
bad media?

Ricoh's, I think, should be Fuji and are pretty good.

Thanks LOCOENG . . .

The Ricoh DVD+R I picked up was a Maxell. As I say the image seems to have burned fine at this point . . . I'm really just wondering what the general consenus on Ricoh DVD+R is.

1) How does Ricoh DVD+R hold up over the long haul?

2) Is Ricoh DVD+R felt to be a good or bad media?

3) Has anyone used Ricoh DVD+R very much over a period of time?

I almost forgot Mr. Media (Doc TY aka Kivory666) himself commented on the Ricoh's in another thread, so they must be good...

to appear in MY top 3 list is pretty impressive: Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and the MIJ Maxell (Hitachi made) ones are MY own list of media i will use in that order~ :) i do like Ritek media (ricohjpn too) as well and have had a lot of success with it, but they have slipped a spot unfortunately due to the other medias being on sale at a good price.

my old Memorex disks are RIOCHJPNs and they are from 2003 and still going strong!~ I happen to be lucky not to buy the Memorex CMC MAGs which are crappola media! here is a media guid for you:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
this guide is just that..... a guide ....... it's not the say all of media but it's a good start for understanding media. Here is an older list of manufacturer IDs on media:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431

DVDs from the same company might have many manufacturer IDs....it all depends where they produced them and stuck their names to it. It's like the supermarket..... the supermark brand might be the same brand from a major manufacture that is well known but just put their name on the product and sells it cheaper than the real named manufacturer! Taiyo Yuden disks can be bought in their same name manufacturer and also brands like Sony, Maxell, Fuji and some others. I just follow the MIJ (made in Japan) can't go wrong there. I also only buy Taiyo Yuden disks.... never a problem.

Ricoh is who makes the media. Back when I was using ritek DVD+R media I always hoped the media code would be ricohjpn R03 as opposed to ritek R03. The ritek code wasn't bad but the ricoh code was even better. I've still got some ricohjpn R03's from a couple years back that still play error free.
