Hi,
I have a NEC ND-3520A DVD_RW drive, and I am using NERO v6.6.0.8 to burn DVDs.
Lately I've encountered a problem where DVDs that are burned using this NEC drive cannot be read by this drive itself! I tried burning using NERO's "start multi-session" and "No multi-session" and in both options the result was the same: the burning process is successful, but then when I try to read the DVD using the same drive - it is not recognized. I have a 2nd drive which is a DVD-ROM (of LG), and my burned DVDs are always successfully recognized & read using this drive.
My operating system is winXP SP2.
Any help would be highly appreciated...
Thanx, yuval

That is not unusual. Many burners cannot read discs they have burned.
Try a firmware update:

You may want to try changing your media brands as well. Check and see if any of the movies you could read before can still be read. If so, try using that same media.

Burn methods don't really have an effect on wheither a DVD can be read or not. A burn that occurs with any program that completes without error will have placed specific files on the DVD. These tell the playback device that it is, 1. A DVD, 2. What format the DVD is in, ie DVD-ROM, DVD R/W DVD+R, etc, to name just a couple.

Booktyping (bitsetting) will change the format to a DVD-ROM which is more compatable, so this is something you may want to do, especially if you are using +R media already. You would need specific firmware to do this though.

I'd probably be more inclined to just buy a burner that supports booktyping in the first place though...

Personally, I'd just use the ROM to read with, make sure that firmware for the burner was up to date and using quaity media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

I don't own this burner so hopefully someone who does may have more info.
