Hey just a heads up i also posted this in the DVD software forum...i wasn't sure which forum best fitted this problem so i'm also throwing it upi here.
I just installed Nero Ultimate Edition 7 on my buddies comupter. We're DVDFabdecrypter then using Burning Rom to "Copy entire DVD"

I tried to backup "The Incredibles" (adics his kids have ruined many times before) then something more simple "Big Daddy" both times it re-coded then passed analysis...but when it got the the burning step it fails. here's the error log. Please help us figure this out someone. Does Ultra 7 have a security flag in it or something?

first off the firmware for the SONY DVD RW DRU-530A is old and should be updated to 2.1g:

second.... burning the Ritek (that's the manufacturer ID) disks at 2x....try 4X ......many members at Afterdawn like the Ritek disk... I use only top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (made in Japan) disks and I usually use the DVD+Rs cause I can booktype them to DVD-ROMs.

also you did not post the Existing drivers.... What are they? and do you have Nero's InCD installed .... this is a known issue with DVD burning and should be uninstalled.

also if you have Roxio on the computer with Nero..... they clash..... keep one or the other. After uninstalling Roxio us the Roxio Zapper to make sure there is nothing left on your computer that refers to Roxio:

if you are uninstalling nero and then reinstalling or just want to clean out Nero altogether then I suggest you use the Nero Cleaning tool:

@gwen...... I have Nero 7.2.0.3b ......I must admit I don't use Nero often but I have used Recode2, Express, Burning ROM and thank goodness I haven't run into problems yet..... but as I stated..... I don't use it often enough to find problems with it, YET! I read the Nero Forum often enough to see this version is buggy!

@IHoe, Yep another shocker put out by Nero, it's throwing up all sorts of errors so it's back to 7.0.8.2 for reliability, you'd think they would get it right before launching a new version, Cheers.

hey all thank you for all the input. it was actually not very easy but i finally found where Sony hides the drivers for their older burners. and updated the firmware. And no there is no Roxio on there. This was a fresh re-install of WinXP Home and the new Nero7. And it was all good after i updated the Sony burners firmware. oddly i set the Memorex discs to burn a "maximum" write speed and i guess Nero decided x2 was the fastest...even though these are up to 16x discs and this burner is a 4x max burner.
