Problem with audio sync while attempting to convert Divx to mpeg

I have a few Divx which cause me hard time while trying to convert them to mpeg(for SVCD). The problem all of this Divx have in common is that at some point in the movie(diffrent for each file) there are corrupted frames. This corrupted frames cause audio to go out of sync with the movie.

When I play this DivX in windows media player the player seems to be able to overcome this problem.

My questions are as follow:

1) why does media player able to play movie correctly while VirtualDub(For example) losses sync. This happens even if I tell virtualDub to skip over the corruption.

2) How can I somehow extract the audio correctly from the Divx? I'm able to extract the audio(using VirtualDub/Avi2vcd Decompress & TmpegEnc) but it still comes with missing audio part(which is why the audio and video goes out of sync).

3) If I cannt do question 2 automticly, can I somehow insert quiet sound section into the wav(extracted audio) so it will fix the sync? Is there any simple freeware tool?
