I have a lite-on sohw-812s dvd burnerand just bought some 16X Verbs and my burner only goes up to 8X so i was gonna try to burn them at 8X right? I was wrong. In imgburn under supported write speeds it only says 2.4X. Same in Nero 7. I have the latest firmware usoq also.
also, the 2.4x burned disks work excellent, no skips or pauses throughout the movies.
Edit: I noticed that there is a new firmware on litons website, I will try it out and Ill go from there.

That makes sense. 16x is still fairly new. I dunno how new/old that liteon is but the firmware update should do the trick.

I have to liteons and they can burn at 16x with no problem--I limit it to 8x just to be safe though.

I updated my firmware today and now the disc is recognized the correct speeds to write to 4-8x because my burner is old and only writes at 8x.

You should see if your firmware is up to date, you can get new firware for your drive from rpc1.org. This was my problem in them not being read by my burner correctly, although yours seems to be more serious.

@franco45

what burner are you currently using? if an older model, good chance that the firmware is out of date, coupled with the fact that your drive manufacturer MIGHT NOT be updating as frequently as many of us would like to accomodate the 16x rated media these days...

it's getting more and more difficult to find the 8x rated media that many of us have grown to love w/ far fewer issues and less firmware headaches compared to the 16x rated media...they are READILY available online for the 8x speeds, whichever kind you personally have had good success with, but the 16x will be the new former 8x "norm" that we've grown accustomed to previously, so, with that in mind...might toss around in your head a possible suggestion of getting a more recent dvd burner in the near future if you budget allows (this will give you less headaches if your current drive is no longer readily supported by the manufacturer with new firmware updates to utilize the newer 16x rated media, more than likely, if you have an old firmware, the tables are NOT sufficient to accomodate the new 16x media, which is WHY you are having problems with them...) :)

Im still having problems with the 16x Verbs. The scores come out from 72-80 range I only burned 9 of these disks and am going to try and return them as I have finally located some MIJ Sony 8x disks at my local CircuitCity. For some reason they are the only ones that have them, and not only do they have them, every freakin 50 pack spindle is MIJ, -r or +r. I also saw that sale on officedepot for 14.99 for sony 50 pack spindles and am going to use CCs 110% price guarantee to get a spindle of +rs for 13.50. Still dont know why my burner hates those 16x verbs.

I took those 16x verbs back to best buy. Then I went to Circuit city with those TY Sonys and pricematched Office Depot to Lake then 12.49 +tax to make them 13.30 total, a great deal, especially for TYs!
