Who is making the media for fujifilm these days?
I know the MIJ ones are Taiyo Yudens
but how about the new ones that come in a silver packaging label
I cant seem to find mij with the new ones, only made in taiwan,
anybody know who makes them.
I think Ritek makes the -R's not quite sure about the +R's

When Fujifilm had the blue label some of the MIT ones were MCC. Are the new +Rs MCC ? hope so
Best Buy 100pk @ $29.99

sorry to burst your bubble, but the NEW 16x rated MIT Fujifilms are NOT MCC produced~ :)

in the DVD-R format 16x MIT fujifilm, they are Prodisc made, usually carrying the ProdiscF02 coding, and on the DVD+R format, as you mentioned, are Ritek made, with the RitekF1 MID coding and also ProdiscR05 coding on the DVD+R as well~ :)

haven't seen any MIJ Fuji 16x in either format yet either locally for me, so until i get my hands on some...can't tell ya what they will be or who manufactures them, quite possibly Taiyo Yuden...only time will tell~ :)

Darnit, I geuss I got to stick with Verbatim for MCC.
Now for TY's I dont know where to get them anymore, well i can always get em online but thats always a hassle. but for retail stores, I think the only brand i know of that still uses TY is MIJ Sony.
Do you know of any other ones?
Oh yeah whats the MID on those 16x TDK the odd looking ones I think its a grayish looking disc. anyhow, Ive been wanting to buy those but all that they have of those are Made in taiwan, well atleast where im at and ive been worried that they would end up to be CMCmag.

actually, i PERSONALLY despise TDK's own media, all my tests in the past on at least 5 diff. drives at the time gave me massive errors and enough coasters to fill up an empty spindle/cakebox and return it to the store! LOL, not like i ever went THAT far though, it's just a thought... :)

the 16x DVD-R will give you the MID coding of TTH02, MIT, NOT good in MY OPINION...i personally can't stand ANY of TDK's "TT" media prefix, whether it be the 4x/8x/16x...whether it be TTG01/TTG02/TTH01 (the ones i've actually tried and failed miserably)...

in the older 4x and 8x DVD-R & the DVD+R, TDK's that were MIJ were actually made by Taiyo Yuden...TYG01/TYG02 respectively for the DVD-R and YUDEN000T02 for the 8x DVD+R, good stuff of course! :)
rumor has it that the NEWEST MIJ 16x DVD+R TDKs COULD possibly be the YUDEN000T03s~ :) haven't actually SEEN them or gotten my hands on any YET!, will be keeping my eyes out and will try if i can find any~ :)

16x TDK DVD+R, MIT will be what you would expect...CMCMAGM01, not a personal favorite...but then again, i know very few people that really like CMC MAG discs~ :)

i'm biased when it comes to TDK, only because FOR ME, i'd rather have CMCMAGs than TDK's own media...that's how much i dislike them...but, when they have Taiyo Yuden make their media, TDK appears "favorably" in my eyes once again~ :)

docTY

good luck with your local hunting, i hope you get lucky and find the "gems in the rough" :)

I ended buying a bunch of media from Office Depot. They are having a really good sale right now. Its their store brand dvds which is really good media {Ritek}. they are $7.99 for a 50pk cakebox.

Avoid TDK media. I would avoid it more than Memorex (only because I knew never to get Memos).

TDK was so bad that I wound up selling the rest of my batch. The very few discs that I used, that actually work, coded out as (what else would it be?) CMC!

Mr_Pink- I'm not an apologist ! I'm sorry ! LOL! for TDK Dvd Media but they suffer from the same disease as most of the Branded Media companies . They Farm out their production to various Oem Companies Like CMC ( Pha-Tooey !!!!) or worse ! But Painting all Tdk Media with the Broad Generalization brush of crap is a misnomer ! Not all Tdk is CMC Crap - For instance I have some 4x Tdk DVD+R that is made By Ricoh( Ricohjpn) and seems to work well ! granted it isn't Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden but it's not Cmc Either ! I do agree with you though having learned much from fellow afterdawners such as yourself & others that given my druthers I would stick to verbatims & or Taiyo Yuden 's either under Taiyo's own name or Branded by sony/Fuji but oem'ed by taiyo ! And lately that has become somewhat easier to do with BestBuy puting the Verbatims on sale almost every week ! I understand what you mean though ! it's getting to where you almost have to buy online to know what your really getting 100% of the time ! And to answer the $64.00 question no I have'nt bought any Tdk Dvd media in quite along time either ! Especially since reading Doc ty's Post ( I think it was his anyway ?) about killing his burner with Tdk disc ! but I suppose I'll use up the ones I have as long as they're not CMC or worse ! I get your point ! good luck & happy Trails Mr_Pink!
