Help me im a noob!--Mod chip sfuff--

Im a noob at this sh-tuff... ok here is my problem:
-I bought an xbox of this guy, it has like evox or emulator and some other crap on it, it has over 100 games.....So, when i go to play one of these games that are saved(backed-up) on my xbox they dont work.(It loads, then it goes back to the main screen.
-Also when I go to play games(CD's) they dont work either. Is there a quick fix or some shit or something, what do i do?

I think whats happening is you have the game region setting wrong.
When ti loads the dash..evox from your description scroll down the menu until you get to system settings and look for game region.
It's variously default or auto, PAL or NTSC.. whatever it is try changing it to the other and see if that works.. remember to save and exit at the bottom of the screen. then reboot and try loading a game again.

So then..interesting.. Is it playing any original games?
Or doesn't it want to know at all.. Is anything else loading.. emulators, tools like dvd2xbox or anything??

Then theres a dash problem..the menu's are messed up. I think you will have to re-install a heap of things.
Is it actually chipped or is it a softmod?

Hmm, i'm not quite following, chipped- as in cracked? I really no not know cuz i bought it off sum guy. What exactly is a soft mod?

Well I was trying to find out if it's chipped because it's a lot easier to fix if it is.. Are there any extra switches on the front?
That doesn't mean there isn't a chip fitted but usually there are some switches on it somewhere if there is.It sounds like it might by the size of the drive. Open it up and see if theres a little circuit board with some wires on the right hand side under the dvd drive.
Error 21 does sound like a softmod gone wrong though. Have a look and post back.

right it's a softmod..if as you say you have no idea what to do from here give the return a shout and he'll get it sorted out for you. I'm more hardware than softmod recovery..What error21 means is that a file the box relies on to get loaded is damaged or missing. Usually one of the dashboard files. As I don't know how the box was modded I think it's better if I hand this over to the softmod guys..Plus it's late and I'm not thinking straight. Have a look on the returns page..Theres a link to an easy to follow tutorial for fixing error 13-21..
