iLO DVDR05 DVD Recorder

Just bought the iLO DVDR05 recorder and tried using DVD+R discs and they will not format. I've also tried several brands such as Fuji DVD+R,Maxell DVD+R and Verbatim DVD+R and DVD+RW.....When I put a disc in the tray it asks do I wish to format....I click yes and the formatting begins....however when it reaches 50% in the top left corner flashes blank disc....then it continues to 98% where it stops for about 2 minutes....then it reads disc error. No matter what media I use, I get the same results....it just will not format a disc so I can record on.... Please help!!!!!!!

A friend of mine bought an ILO recorder. All it did was make coasters. He could not get it to work worth beans - and took it back for a refund. Bought another brand (I don't remember which) and had no problems.
