HELP-encountered problem with dvd to dvix step

after i do the dvd2avi step of doing some audio settings, which i followed from this sites guide on dvd to divx format guide, when i tried to "add a job" with the vfapiconven program it gave me a message with question marks...can anyone help me or tell me what im doing wrong or need to change?..many thanks
