I've been using WinAVI for awhile now, and recently downloaded it's latest upgrade, 7.6. Now, after getting this version, all the DVDs I burn are--for some reason--no longer compatible with my (region 1) DVD player. My DVD player specifically says "Playback prohibited by area limitations."

Now, I use Nero express 6, and a Sony DVD player, but I'm pretty sure WinAVI is the problem here. I was using like...6.8 (not sure) before and I had virtually no problems.

Can anyone help me with this? How can I make my WinaVI work again?

As far as I know, WinAvi doesn't do anything to region codes. Could it instead be a PAL Vs NTSC problem? Let's say you want to convert a video into dvd compliant format: After choosing 'dvd' and selecting the video clip, click 'advanced' to bring up the 'option' window, then click 'dvd' at top and see if 'target format' has been set correctly. In your case, it should be either 'auto' or 'ntsc'.

Hope this helps.
