Hi everyone.. I am somewhat a newbie, got a PSP v1.5 system last week... have spent the last couple of days getting familar with the different iso loaders and techniques for homebrew apps like emulators.

Unfortunately I just noticed something wierd taking place on my PC after starting to work with my PSP. Any file or folder that begins with an underscore "_" instantly makes the file or folder "hidden from Windows API" and thus unreadable to me.

What is even worse is that I can't even delete folders relating to my PSP, as the GAME folder in the PSP folder ususally has a folder starting with the name prefix "__SCE__..." and because of that, it becomes hidden and I can't access it, thus I can't delete the parent folder. It is also wierd as the hidden files or folder I find can only be viewed with special utilities like "Active@ File Recovery for Windows" by LSoft. The attributes for these files and/or folders are all clean (no hidden option is selected) and the Explorer is set to view all hidden and system folders. I even looked into RegEdit to make ssure the SuperHidden option is set to "1" value for showing the hidden system files.

I have installed no software, so I am assuming I had a rootkit installed onto my system by my PSP.. somehow? I found a couple other people talking about this happening to them, but nothing in detail to figure out my situation. I have used the utility "RootKitRevealer" and it is definitely showing signs of an infection. HOW is this possible with my PSP???

Any advice on how to install and / or avoid how to get it again??

Let me clarify two points...

1) I have not installed any new software or played any of the Sony/BMG rootkit infected CDs... matter of fact, I don't listen to Audio CDs on my system. Only possible way of transfer is by means of an infected download file (all scanned and from reliable sources) or from my PSP.

2) At the end, I asked if anyone had any questions on how to install this rootkit problem. I ment to ask how to uninstall this problem.
