Hi - I have a quick question...I am trying to copy an already copied DVD and I have done this before with no problems, however, the disc I am currently trying to copy is a DVD -R (by fuji film) and the programs I use will not "encode" the disc and I get an error reading at exactly the same point (10%) each time I try it. The error message reads: "DVD shrink encountered and error and cannot continue. Failed to read file D:\ Data error. Cyclic redundency check." My question is if you know a way or a program that I can use to copy from DVD-R discs. I use Sony + R discs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter? Reencoding with DVD Shrink is really overkill anyway as the disc has already been compressed. You should be able to just rip and burn.

The disk you are trying to copy has write errors in it. There is no protection on it since it is already a copy. You can try ripping with the free DVDFab Decrypter it does better with scratched/damaged disks. Rip to your HDD and then use Shrink.

Actually I tried DVD Decrypter and it gave me an error message also, once again at exactly the 10% mark. Im not sure if I have the settings correct. To be honest, I only know how to copy discs the one way that I do it on DVDShrink, other then that, I am a real newbie. Is there guides for DVD Decryptor or the other progs? Thanks again!

Thanks, I DL'ed the DVDfab Decryptor express and it says it is "copying DVD files" to my hard drive. I assume when that is done, I will be able to burn those files to disc??

LOCOENG, Thanks for the link to the guides. I read the one for "1 to 1 backup using Clone DVD" It seems easy enough to follow, but I assume it does not compress the disc and therefore it says the copy will have to span 2 discs. If mine is already compressed since it is already copied, can I use this to make a 1 for 1 copy on one disc??

When you open Clone choose write existing data, then where it says enter path for IFO/VOB choose your reader file, if you have two drives then place your disk in your burner and choose DVD Writer tab, and then your drive. You will get an exact copy, if not two drives then rip to your HDD and then go back and choose write existing data, the file and then your burner.

CloneDVD is a pay program, you can do what you are trying to do using only freeware. Also DVDFab Express is a pay program, you needed DVDFab Decrypter from arniebears link.

Here are the guides that should interest you:

And this one since you will be left with a VIDEO_TS folder if you get a successful rip:
