My AVI playback was never a problem. Now some avi's i've downloaded play as two screens squashed together (halves) in a greenish purplish colour??

Anyone seen this before?
Anyone know what to do??

I've tried cleaning up all my codecs but the video ones wouldn't be deleted for some reason. Even though I went thru all the steps, when I go back into hardware setup and list video codecs they're all back!
(so i deleted the actual driver files).

I used GSpot and it tells me everything is fine, incl rendering correctly with DirectShow.

This forum is my last resort!! please help!
