I was looking at that for some company promotional DVDs I made. Ritek's a mixed bag as far as media quality, but that usually is because of your burner. My NEC 3550A doesn't like RITEKG05 at all, but every other burner I've owned loves RITEK. Meritline says these are RITEKG04 and a quick look at videohelp.com's DVD Media database says this media type has a very good record at burning and playback in DVD players, so this media is probably good stuff.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

while I've never used the double sided Riteks ( Find them too expensive for my taste !!) I've used Riteks -05's & -O3's as Maxell's or Officeddepot branded media and found them to work very well atleast for me ! Personally I think I would just use 2 4.7gb dvd's but that's me- Their (Meritlines ) cheapest price on theese are .68cents =500 Pack Ritek RiData 9.4GB 4X DVD-R Blank Media Double-Sided General Purpose DVDR Disc 9.4 GB in Bulk (DRD94-4X), $0.68 Each
Item code: 102-193-500 - I can buy Verbatims or Sony/Taiyo locally for .30cents each onsale or online at prices under .68ea. But if you want to try them & works gonna buy'em for you go ahead Good luck and let us know how you make out using them Ciao!

Actually at $0.68 it's not THAT bad when you consider that most media on sale is about $0.30 a disc. Multiply that by two and you're only paying a few cents more for the convenience of having one disc rather than two. Actually, if I had some good way of writing the names of the disc contents on the discs, I'd be using these discs for my VHS transfers to save space.

Dunker- To each their own I suppose ! I'm not knocking you choice in media , Riteks Have served me well so far !I was simply stating that I would probably just use two 4.7 gb dvd's Because I'm cheap ! It gives me a surface to write label info on ! Also it gives me a somewhat wider choice of available media to choose from ! I like riteks just fine But have'nt used theese particular ones ! SO in hindsight Though I am not Judging your or anyone 's choice in media ! I can only choose for myself ! I recuse myself as not suited to judge on these riteks yeah or Neah ! having not used them as I said previous ! I do hope if you try them that they serve you well as Riteks have done for me And that you Continue to enjoy this hobby of ours Sorry if I came across as Ragging on you as it was not intended ! Good Luck x2 Both sides LOL!

My apologies, I hope you didn't think I was criticizing you; I was just pointing out that it has finally become economical now to use a double-sided instead of two single-sided discs. I remember looking at these back in February or so and they were still prohibitively priced. I agree, though, that being able to write on the disc is important - more important than being able to burn to both sides of a disc. I just wish I could use a Sharpie on the burned side, then I could have my cake and eat it too.

Dunker- I could help you with that , Almost ! Quite awhile back QVC -Qvc.com Yes that one ! Had a Special show where they went around the USA showcasing new inventors & their inventions !And one of the inventions was a Marker pen That wrote in an ink/Dye that was only visible under Ultraviolet light ! - It's designed so you can mark your identfying iformation ie; Name ,Ph# , SSN# or whatever you chose to use to mark your valuables !@ If they are stolen the police run them under a UV light and Bingo ! -Hell0 yes Mr. Dunker we have your movie collection /computer ect... I don't recall the exact name of this pen but a little research might make that turn up !the reason that I think it would work for your application is that was one of the demonstration the inventor did on the show for his product! ( He wrote /scribbled on the read side of a cd and played it with no problem ! The ink Dye is clear /colorless under normal lights it only becomes visible with a UV lightsource ! Barring chemical interaction with the dvd I see no reason why it should'nt work with dvd media too ? Good Luck & happy Hunting!- Ps# 1 Help has arrived ! Damn ! I love me when I'm good !- Here is some info for the pen thing = http://www.cybavilla.com/ininkmapen.html .
