Hi Everyone,
I'm about to buy a USBextreme kit including a boot disk, to use with an external usb hard disk.

Can anyone give me some feedback about usbextreme and whether it works well. I have read some mixed feedback on the forums, nothing really decisive .... anyone out there with some hands on experience of this?

What version is your PS2? I personally absolutely HATED USBeXtreme (well, USBAdvance to go with my matrix infinity chip) cos it was slow and bad compatibility

Buy HDcombo and then you can use an internal IDE hard drive and use HDloader with it for our slimline ps2. Dont use USBadvance the compatibility of games suck. Just 15% of the games work while Hdloader almost 85% work

and offcourse dont buy UsbExtreme download usbadvance, google it u ll get it, burn it on a cd (offcourse u need a modchip to boot it though) Usbadvance is a cracked version of Usb Extreme its the same thing in short

HDcombo/HD Connect is the best for the slims. BUT it only work on the V12/13. I have a V14 and used USBAdvance and it sucked it is NOT combabibly with most games and the USB 1.1 on the PStwo make reading slow (my opion i think it runs about fast as a cd) Its your only solution for Hadrdrive in the V14 so far.

Sorry to hear USBextreme is not compatible with games. I need more info than this though, thats been my problem to date, too much hearsay and not enough facts. I hope its just user error and not the software itself.

I wonder why Sony is still using old USB technology eg USB 1.1 - my new purchased Playstation, Sony still camera and Sony movie camera all have 1.1.

I don't think any computer for purchase today has USB 1.1, they are all USB 2.

Sony senior techos should be fired I reckon.

hi sorry not sure what I was thinking when I typed that (probably wasn't thinking at all)

What I meant to say is that it has low compatibility, but it IS compatible with games. Again unfortunately since you have V14, USBeXtreme/USBAdvance is your only option, if you had a V12/V13 you could've gotten the HD Combo kit like me.. :(

For instance new games like Fifa 2006, World Cup 2006 ,Grand theft auto liberty city stories dont work at all, and all of these works in Hdloader. Games which do work are old games which got released like last year or even before that.

Cricket 2005, GTA San Andreas works.

In the long run USBAdvance is shit
