I recently downloaded and episode of Roswell that was encoded by the Stonecutters. I have been struggling with getting it to play for some time now.

I tried WMP first, because the file is a .mpg, not a .bin or .cue. That provided garbage audio and video. Then realizing that the file says it is SVCD, I tried playing it in PowerDVD 4.0. That gave the same garbage audio and video. I also tried burning the file with both Nero 5.0 and VCDEasy. While both of those burned the CD, the playback was still garbage on both my computer and stand-alone Pioneer DVD player.

I asked the advice of a couple people in an IRC channel, and they suggested using WinDVD instead. I installed that, which required an update of DirectX, and tried viewing the mpg file again. Now I no longer get complete garbage. Instead, the video skips past the main menu and stops on one of the bonuses, an advert for a cd containing a song from the episode. The song also plays. I can pause the video and go to the beginning and see the main menu, but I of course can't interact with it.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I have no problem playing any other video, did the Stonecutters use a special MPEG-2 codec? I have an SD-6 SVCD video that plays fine. However, that video doesn't use the menus that the Stonecutters have. Thanks in advance.
