Just purchased my first DVD burner yesterday (LG 2 speed multi-recorder), along with a pack of 25 Datasafe Classic x2 DVD-R's

Having read about the different problems people have had with DVD media, I must say that I was expecting at least a few problems to come up. I am very, VERY pleased with the results though.

I've now backed up both of my Star Wars DVD's, as well as The Matrix and LOTR:Fellowship using Smartripper > DVD2One > Nero and they play flawlessly, having been burned at x1 speed. At x2 speed the only problem that came up was a single, very slight pause on one of the Star Wars discs. I can live with that though.

So far, I can definitely recommend both the LG Drive (£150) and the Datasafe discs (£30 for 25). Excellent value, given the relatively low price.

I've no experience of the LG burner, but have used loads of Datasafe Classic media. Never had any problems.
