I ordered a 50pk of Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8x. I was looking at the bottom of some of them and i maybe looked at the first ten and noticed 2 of them have what looks like a defect. The bottom has the normal purplish color, and the best I can explain the defect is like jet path or shooting star effect going from the outside to the center about a hairs width. Is this normal?

mavz44- I don't think so about what you mentioned . But For all things Taiyo Yuden ! Kivory_666 Aka Doc Ty is you one stop Source for information ! I have used Taiyo Yudens Many times albeit in the Guise of Fuji Mij Media - Taiyo Yudens under Fuji's Brand And I can only recall Having one deffective right out the pack ! It had a Black spot surrounded by a discolored area . It appeared to be an inclusion in the plastic like something grit dirt or debris had gotten into the disc while it was being molded /made weird huh! anyway If it's only two out of 50 or 100 Either use them for something non critical -experiments ect. or chunk them into the trash !You have lots more right ! Sorry you got a couple of clinkers ! but you can occasionally get a bad disc or too in any brand But thing with taiyo yuden is it does'nt happen as often ! good Luck and happy Burning!

I am going through my 1200th Taiyo Yuden disk and I never heard or seen anything of what you described. Taiyo Yuden media has been a constant and honestly I can say, I have never had a bad burn with Taiyo Yuden media.I usually buy the 8x DVD+Rs, white injet hub printalbes or the silver injet printalblse also 8x DVD+Rs. I just got 100 TYGO2s (DVD-R,8x) Silver Thermal Lacquer. Just tested one out burning THE MATRIX and it came out like a champ. First time my Philips 8631 burned a -R! I was kind of worried about that because when I bought this computer there were so many people with the same burner having trouble with it burning the -R media. I guess I am one of the lucky ones burning everything I put into this burner and still no complaints! I now only use Taiyo Yuden and the only time I had a problem was when I messed up the settings and I stopped the burn myself.... producing a coaster ...... but that was my fault not the disk's fault!

those discs are definately faulty. The marks look like lightening strikes.Ive had quite a few like that ty go2 -r silver printables.I get the occasional disc that appears to have 'clouds' or what looks like greasemarks on the surface.Im getting between 5-8% defect/marked discs in my tubs of 100.And theyre genuine from a reputable store here in the uk.Im of the opinion that even ty are doing what ritek did about 2 yrs ago in mixing grade a with b and c.Still better than the rest though.Trouble is it takes an age for me to burn after a visual inspection, the burn, then the dvdinfo pro pif/pi check, cos anything less than 98% gets binned. And thats quite a few!!!

pork pie,fish pie,cherry pie,hairy pie.Ill eat em all
