i have a psp with fw 2.01 can i uprade to 2.5 and use devhok to use homebrew

No!!! By the UP modship, thats your only choice if you want to play iso's along with homebrew. With out the modchip, only 1.5s can take advantage of loaders like devhook (actually, if you have chip, you dont need any loaders)
