Hi. First time poster. Love the board setup guys. Real tight.

Anyway, I'm posting not because I have a "problem" as much as a curiousity. I'm downloading from Kazaa just fine - getting anywhere from 10-50 kbps on my cable modem. The thing is that my upload speeds suck. They rarely crack 4 kbps. Maybe the patient people who like my stuff can download from me, but 9 outta 10 people abort.

I know it doesn't really affect me much (yeah, that participation level thing stays low, but it really hasn't affected me yet, and I don't expect it to.), but I wanna be a good member of the P2P community. Hehe, I'm exactly who those p2p haters really hate, I want to give as much as I want to receive.

Anyways - what are the chances that it could be my system? What avenues could I pursue to find out more about this? It seems like such an odd discrepancy, after all.

Thanks

- Yooka

Check in kazaa options under advanced and set the max # of kbps to be used when transfering to other users, I check unlimited for uploading and unlimited for downloading, so if people get slow upload speeds there is nothing I can do about it. I would recomend going to the latest version of kazaa-lite, it has all the feature of kazaa and more, plus there are no ads or spyware, not to mention you get a permenant rating of 1000. Upgrading to kazaa-lite won't cause your standing in the p2p community to go down, but will make your sharing experience much better. http://www.k-lite.tk
on that site is the latest version kazaa-lite, the privacy patch that keeps bad orgs like the mpaa from accusing you of sharing illegal files(makes it look like you don't share, but you really still do) and you can get the codec pack. The codec pack is very good and contains nearly everything one might need to view movies on a pc.

This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

Just because 'abort' shows does not mean to say the upload was unsuccessful as Kazaa automatically switches to another source that's better to finish the job. You can see this sometimes in 'download' when the source address changes.
