HELP!! Can't get iso's playing on psp.

Hi everyone.
i recently discuvered the psp bug and egarly went and bought one off ebay. after purchasing it and after i read some more facts about it i discovered i couldnt play homebrew and backups coz it was running 2.6. and couldnt downgrade.
Anyway as i wanted it for this reason i sold that one and got another running, v1.5. with a 1gb ms.
While i was waiting for this to arrive i bought some games offf ebay which where WinRAR compressed onto several dvd's.
I managed to get the umd emulator on the ms and get spongebob screen ready to run iso backups.
as per instructions from the ebay seller i did exactly as he said and have still no playable backups. im just going in swings and roundabouts with him so ive come to ask the experts! ;-)
Im not just being lazy because i have spent many sleepless nights trying to get it working with some of the threads on this forum but im just getting really miffed off now.
Basically what im doing is : i have my iso file on the psp root.
i get one of the games off the dvd disc and drag onto desktop.i exstract into another folder, but when i do this it still looks compressed with the WinRAR icon.
After opening the icon i get 2 folders Psp_game and umd_data.bin now as far as i can tell and read this is not an iso file??
so with that i did more reading and downloaded umd gen. and dragged these 2 files into the screen and saved it. now i go into the saved folder and it still looks exatly the same??? what am i doing wrong.
ive heard that another software called "VcdromX" which will convert the file to ISO but ive googled it and can't find it anywhere.
Ive tried to just put the psp_game and umd_data.bin into the iso file onto ms but as you can guess it doesn't work. i just get "initializing" and it stays on it till i reboot.
I know this is quite an extensive thread but i wanted to try and make myself clear. I would appreciate any help anybody could give me regarding this.

Try this first, open up WinRAR, go to options->settings->integration, and mak sure the box labeled ISO is unchecked. It sounds like WinRAR is associated with isos, and that not a good thing.

hi,
wow! quick response. just bin reading some threads and descided to check,never thought id get a response that quick.
anyway tahnks for your response. checkes what you said and the box was cheacked so i have uncheckes it and repeating what i have done before. will let you know how it goes.

No problem, glad to help....You should see that your iso's now are associated correctly, and will boot with the right loaders. Sounds like you are using fastloader, which is great for older games. Let me know how it turns out:)

btw you mentioned you put the isos in the root folder, they dont go there they go in a folder called "ISO" which goes in your root

hi again,
(svtstang) your information was correct and now playing iso's!!! after all that just a quick question and it was sorted. Thankyou very much. you guessed right about fastloader, im running v.05 but think i might upgrade to v0.8. any better in your experience??
you prob have all the games you can get your hands on but i got a few.if you want any just give us a shout i might have it.least i can do.
(alienator) with regards the iso, i meant i put the iso in the root.

would of been another one of those nights otherwise. LOL.

LOL, glad we could help. I was prety sure that the iso association was you only problem, you sound like you have a pretty firm grip on the psp. I have .8, but i never use it. I use Daxziso .62 as well as devhoo .41. Dax is great with older and some newer games, and allows you to compress them so you can save some space on your mem stick. Dev .41 lets you play all the newer games (2.5 and 2.6 required firmware games), and also allows you to compress them. Give them a shot, if you need any link just let me know:) Have fun:p

hi again,
just wondered if i can have some help again.
im having some problems playing most of my games i think it might be down to fastloader.
some games i put on the psp either dont load at all or freeze on the startup menu.
to name but a few: the con,hustle streets detroit,ridgeracer.
could anyone help me please?

i know that street detroit and the con requires 2.** firmwares,you should try them using devhook.for ridge ricer(1.5fw),if it dont work on daz zizo then it must be a bad dump or something like dat

like legend said, you can use devhook for those. I would go with dax though. Either way, fastloader is very limited to what it can play.

hi,
thought id try devhook 1st because i can't find daxziso on google to download.
cant get devhook to work, it just keeps saying can't run/load devhook no matter what the settings are.
tried not to be lazy and see if anyone had any similar problems but no one has.
ive put the devhook and devhook% in the right places and i can get devhook menu but thhats about it.
any ideas plz?

hi
found daxziso! downloaded it set up with instructions on psp hacks.
trying detroit streets again still no joy. just coming up with a blank screen. tried atv and that works fine. not sure about the settings on daxziso,ive just left them standard.
any help plz?

hi thanks for feedback.
still no joy. tried playin with settings. might have bad iso.
with regards to devhook. ive put devhook and devhook% into psp/game,
i havnt put anything onto the root? not sure how to do that.

you have to put the folder called "dh" on the root,thats the folder containing the fw files!
