I have, what I consider, a doozy of a question(s). I have been reading this forum, sksapps, and dms3 forums and I haven't found the answer.
I have a modded ps2 with the DMS4 Pro chip. I have the Toxic OS 0.41. I have ps2reality media player, and SMS media player. I have ExecFTP.
Question 1. I was trying to copy files to my Internal HD using ExecFTP, but I get errors when I try to copy. I can only copy to the memory card. I can't even make a directory on the HD. BTW I am using CuteFTP on my PC. Does anyone know why I can't copy anything? Also, when I try to copy something from the HD, it hangs and I have to restart the PS2 to get a connection again.
Question 2. I loaded SMS and was able to run DivX files off a dvd. When I try to view my external USB drive, I don't see any files. Does the hard-drive need to be formatted a special way? I can see the device just not any files. Now the files are in folder, does that make a difference (I just thought of that now).
Question 3. Is there a utility that will allow me to copy file from a DVD to the HD or memory card?
I think that's it. I hope someone can help me with any of these. It's driving me mental!
for FTP you should use FlashFXP. this way you can easily make use of the COMMANDS which grant you full access to your internal HD.
use DMS hdformat tool to create a partition, name it for example AVI
then start exeftp on ps2 and connect flasfxp to it.
right click in the ps2 vendor, click commands -> edit commands
now create two commands:
SITE MNT /pfs/0/ hdd:+AVI
and
SITE UMNT /pfs/0/
The first will grant you access to your AVI partition, by going into the pfs/0/ folder (the partition will be there)
Now you can copy your files and stuff to this folder
The second command will close the partition (or unmount) ****DO NOT FORGET THIS STEP****
Now restart your ps2 and the AVI partition should contain all files
Thanks mademan, gonna try that tonite or tomorrow. WIll post the results. One thing I have been able to do is get an external USB drive recognized by both toxic and SMS so I have been able to watch divix movies and launch elfs from the external HD.
