My premodded Ps2 has been having some very weird problems now.
This is not a laser problem, because I have just replaced mine today.
It does work a little better, but still nowhere to where it once was when I first got it. I have had this Ps2 for probably about 10 months, and just in this last month I've been having problems.
Here's what been happening:

My PS1 games work just fine, it's the PS2 games that are problematic.
My Ps2 originals, some boot, some don't. My backups all boot, but when it comes to loading it stays at a black screen unless I open the disc cover and close it again, where the disc get re-read, after that it loads.

All my DVD movies original and backups all play just fine.
Before I put my new laser in, most of my PS2 backups wouldn't load, and in most FMV parts of the game the videos skips and freezes.
But this is a brand new laser that I got, so it has to be a different functioning part on my PS2.

I am almost at the point where I'm going to have to spend another $300 and get another premodded PS2.
I'll also be honest that the cause of this might be because the PS2 was dropped on a hardwood floor (I'm not sure if it was, becuase I'm not the only one using the system, the other is my 12 year old brother).

If I can get a way with just replacing parts as being a better idea, (keep in mind I don't know how to solder) then I'll do that as an alternative.
