How to back-up data all into one CD-R

hi duz anyone know how to back-up all the files on my computer into a single CD-R? is it possible or do i hav to burn multiple CD-R's to back-up everything? well there's a virus or spyware on my copmuter and i hav norton antivirus 2006 already but somehow my computer freezes all the time and i can't even open anything on my desktop except for FireFox or Nero, iTunes...etc. I mainly can't open My Computer and My Documents and it gets so annoying. Thats why i need to back-up everything b4 everything is lost....does anyone hav a suggestion?

It all depen on how much data you've got. Every CD-R will hold about 700 MB of data. If you have a lot of data you will probably have to use various CD-R's. Since you've got a Virus, I'd try to update virus definitions and then try getting rid before backing up.
If I were you I'd back up my music, pictures or videos by making a Data Discs with Nero. Later I'd do a clean OS install to flush the virus out of the system. You notice that I never mentioned backing up files like Word Documents. There is a reason. Macro virus are transmitted via MS Word so unless you can't afford losing that kind of document don't back them up.
If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

well besides My Pictures or My Videos, etc. can i back-up full programs like WinAvi or InterVideo WinDvD? i just noticed that when I backed up some parts of my videos it only had enough space to back-up 2 video files...that would mean i would hav to back-up 20 CD-R's then! and does anyone know a good program to fix viruses? Norton AntiVirus doesn't realli do anything..:(

Yes you can back up executable files like WinAVi, InterVideo, etc. About the antivirus...Norton is supposed to be a good AV. I just got tired of paying them a yearly fee for updating. Now I use Grisoft AVG free edition. It's a good AV for the price (free).

As you already found out, Norton sucks. For future reference, if you do use it, discontinue using Internet Explorer for web browsing as well.
Try ALL of the following:
Spybot S&D (www.safer-networking.net) - beware phony sites
Ad-Aware (www.lavasoft.de) - beware phony sites and imitations
Ewido Anti-spyware
Avira Antivir (www.free-av.com)
Update them and then let them do what they can.
Understand that it's still a good idea to back-up your system even if it takes 20 CDs; unless you are willing to buy and install a DVD drive then you gotta do what you gotta do if you value your data. Generally, it's not worth it to back up program simply because a majority need to be properly registered in the Windows registry. Of course, not all do and you can sometimes preserve settings if you back up your configuration files. Just don't try to back up the registry itself.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I had always in mind to recommend a DVD Burner, but I kept forgetting about it every time I posted a message. LOL. The type of program backup I do involves only the setup file. In case of problems I re-install it.
If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

you could try compressing all the data before burning.
one extreme measure is to overburn or create a mode2 cd which will allow the storage of about 800 or more mb on a 700 mb disk.
but i would go with compression cause hwne you make a mode 2 cd there is no error correction so that disk must be kept in absolute PEAK condition or it dont work.

lol thanx so much for replying...right now i am using FireFox and internet explorer is truly full of viruses...when i open it a dozen popups appear and there are messages that say "Your computer is infected...download this and that..blahblahblah". Does anyone know any other internet browsers besides FireFox that will not most likely be infected with viruses? FireFox is ok but im wondering is there any other better internet browsing tools than FireFox? one more thing..does Grisoft AVG free edition hav any viruses or spyware when i download it?

AVG is safe and Spyware Free...Other browsers you might be interested in are Netscape, Mozilla and Opera. Netscape and Mozilla are basically the same. Netscape uses Mozilla's open source code to make their own browser, which fits their company interests. Opera browser is a good browser. Years ago I had the oportunity to use it. It was highly customizable, supported a kind of tabbed browsing and had popup blocker. This features were really innovative at the time. It was also safer than Internet Explorer (pretty much anything is...LOL). The only downside was it wasn't freeware. I cannot remember how much you had to pay. Don't know if they have gone freeware right now.

I just went to www.download.com and the browser is now listed as freeware. Check it out. Maybe you'll like it.

Opera might be listed as freeware cause it is in version 9 beta at the moment.
i think thats why. i downloaded the beta and it was a lot slower than the others, probably still working out all the bugs

Opera is probably safest browser there is. One thing you have to do with all browsers is disable Java, as cross-browser and cross-platform spyware do exist (Redsheriff comes to mind...)
I don't like the ads at top right but a HOSTS file from http://www.geocities.com/yosponge/updates.html takes care of those ads and much more. Make sure to rename the hosts file so it doesn't have a .txt extension if download it.
Plus Opera is FAST!
Incidentally, a lot of Firefox's securiy flaws stem from XPInstall. If you set xpisntall.enabled to "false" in your prefs.js file (see below) then, along with disabling Java, will strengthen it immeasurably. Still, though, I prefer Opera for being more secure.
