is it possible to repair .avi movies?

i have a number of slightly damaged .avi movies.

at a couple of points in the movie, the picture will start going very smeary(for want of a better word!), and the sound breaks up until my player quits and says something like 'buffer underun'.

any ideas anyone?

try divfix or avifixed, but make sure to make a backup copy of the file before you use either!

tetratim,
get a program to edit the bad parts out of your avi movie,a good program to use for that is roxio videowave,easy and somewhat fast,i use it all the time to edit and make movies from avi files to what ever format you want..
