I'm burning with Nero Premium edition 7 and just recently every time I try to burn a movie or data dvd I get the error message: Could Not Perform Start Of Disc At Once. I was wondering if this means anything specific and how could I get it to work again.

what version of Nero r u using? i prefer 7.0.1.4b or 7.0.8.2.some of the newer versions are buggy so to speak. u can find the older versions at filehippo.com.

I uninstalled Nero 7.2 and ran the cleaner then ran Nero 7.0 and I am still having a problem. At first I thought I was having an issue with the copywritten discs, but now I am getting this message everytime I try to burn any DVD. I even tried to burn a data DVD and got the same error message. It keeps saying "burn process failed at 2.4X". I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the DVD drive but I put in a dvd and it read fine. I even burned a music cd-r using the dvd drive and Nero! I don't think there is anything wrong with Nero because it burned the music cd.

You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Thanks for your quick reply. I updated the firmware then uninstalled the roxio using the zapper. Now, my computer is not recognizing the burner drive. I was thinking of maybe updating the firmware again. What do you think?

Well, I updated the driver again and got it to recognize the disc, but now I am still getting an error message. Here is the new log:

Hi Greenops
It's looks like your drive doesn't like the 16x Ritek (the brand name is probably Memorex, Dynex, Office Depot etc) you are using.
Even though the firmware is up to date & your drive is 16x - it may not have the correct write strategy for these discs.
The failure happens almost immediately into the burn.

You can try burning that ISO with decrypter - your may receive the same error. Give it a shot:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
If you;ve never used it - very simple.
Open decrypter. Go to mode>iso>write.
Then open the iso file under 'source'
Pick your drive under desination and set the burn speed.
You see a pic a dvd & hard drive - click on that to burn.

Better discs to try would be - Verbatim or made in Japan only Fuji or Sony. Try and pick up some 8x if you can.

I just wanna say thank you for the help guys. I finally fixed the problem by updating my firmware, removing the roxio and buying new dvd's. The funny thing is that the very same dvd's were working fine last week.

Hi Greenops
Glad it worked out!
From the looks of your log - a generic write pattern is being used - so may not always work.
Stick with good stuff (listed above) to reduce the chance of burn errors.
Happy Burning!
