Hey all- I have a DVD that I was hoping to take selected clips from to put onto YouTube. First, I used DVD Decrypter to load the DVD onto my hard drive. Now my dvd is split into 5 seperate VOB files. My question is, (a) what are the steps that I would take to convert the files so that they are YouTube-ready? and (b) how can I create smaller clips (since the limit on YouTube is 10 minutes per clip, and each file is now about 25 minutes)?
I'm sorry if this sounds conufsing or anything, but I figure you guys would be able to help me out. Thanks in advance!
Okay first lets start from the begining, i'm not too sure there is a use for VOB files (i had the same problem), i found that it was best to use Nero 6, presuming u have it, and "Converting DVD to Nero Digital Format" or sumthing along the lines of that, through this u can make the whole DVD into a file such a .mp4 or etc.. from there, I would just use Windows Movie Maker, presuming your a PC user, and create the clips like that. Then save those clips individually using the "Save to My Computer" feature in WMM. Then they should be in a file format readable by YouTube. Post them up, and there ya go
I think there is a easier way to create clips with only one program. Try AoA DVD Ripper, you can extract the extact video clip that you want from a DVD in just a few steps. Here is the guide:
Since YouTube accepts video files in the .AVI, .MOV, .MPG and DivX/Xvid is the best. Set the output format to AVI(DivX, XviD) and then set the output resolution to 320x240 (Settings > Output > Resolution). Press Start and you'll get the video clips in AVI format. The output quality would be pretty good:)
If you need to edit the video, you can use Windows MovieMaker.
