Hi all,
Im not new to dvd ripping and vcd ecoding but I am new to xvid and divx. I was wondering what you all think is better to encode with, xvid or divx? I've encoded several xvid movies and am very pleased with how they turned out. I started enoding a divx movie but grew impatient with the encoding time. Is divx encoding time usually longer than xvid? what are your experiences with xvid and divx encoding times?

I dont see much difference between the two to be quite honest! But DivX can be created more easily with Dr. DivX now!

thats right Dr.Divx has a much more friendly way of creating now
although it is argued that xvid is the minutest slightest bit better i stick to DivX whichever floats ur boat

DivX and Xvid are similar, but Kioepe will tell you that Xvid has a higher frame per second at the same output and bitrate

Can any one plz let me know how to create a xvid or divx files?? I tried software such as DVD-TO-AVI & Super DVD Ripper using the Divx codec but I get such a large file and also the the video looks disorted its like a good quality picture with a bad reciption. I do not want to use multiple software just to create an AVI file so if you really have a simple solution step by step and willing to share with me plz email me at bawitdaba0o0@cwazy.co.uk. I really appreciate it. Maybe we can share video once I am able to create one. Thanx.

Isnt the xvid source available? (in addition to the compiled binaries). We cant exactly get access to the DivX source (well, not legally anyways)

Yep thats true, xvid is an open source wheras divx is not a free product for full use! That kinda sucks really, another 1 for xvid!
