I used DVDShrink with the automatic option for Nero to burn. But with each one, when I would play it back it was jerky and the sound was in and out. I am new to burning so how do I get a smooth copy?

Make sure the firmware on your burner up to date, That you are burning at no higher than 8x, 4x is better and use a good brand of media, Sony, Verbatim or MIJ Fuji. No multi-tasking, no internet surfing. Defrag your HDD and do a spyware and Virus scan. Then try again and see if it makes a difference.

Edit: Post the Nero log of your burn, For version 6 look in Program Files/Ahead/Nero/Nero history or for 7 Program Files/Nero/Core/Nero history

Not to seem too much of a dumba** but what is firmware? I was using the trial version of Nero but I just went out and bought it. But I will try everything else. Thanks!

Arniebear did a great job of describing what to do.

The problems listed, however, I would most attribute poor media and accelerated burn speeds. You really shouldn't go over 8x, but if you have quality media (like Verbatim), you could be risky (but I still wouldn't do it).

Stick to Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden--and do everything else arniebear said.
