Canon ntsc zr45 mc help!

Ok i have a Canon NTSC zr45 mc. And out of nowhere it starts acting crazy on me. it play's tapes rewinds fast fowards all that, but when i switch it over to record, nothing, it dosn't shut down. but the screen goes blank and wont let me do anything plus it wont run off of or charge a battery anylonger... I have no idea what happened one day it was fine and the next this... anyone have any ideas what's wrong or am i just dumb!
