I have a Canon A1 Digital 8mm Video Camera & Recorder Hi8. I want need a computer program that will let me add effects, and do some editing. I would expect that since I have an older computer that there is an older program somewhere that will allow me to do this from Hi 8 to VHS Tape and hopefully to DVD It is the editing that is important to me.

Since I have a DVD+R and VCR combination Recorder I'm thinking if I can just get the Hi-8 tape to VHS edited by computer, I can make the DVD.

My System Configuration is as follows:

Processor: Intel Pentium III (635 MHz)
Total RAM (MB) 319
Operating System Windows 98 v4.10.2222
Display Intel (R) 810 Chipset Graphics Driver 4.11.01.2523
Multimedia Creative SB Live

Can I upgrade for less than a new purchase? I am considering a new purchase, but even then I don't know that what I purchase would give satisfactory results.

Thank you for the suggestion but I have a sequencing program for sound and creating music etc. What I want to do is Video related. I'm thinking that I need to
l. get the Hi-8 video into the computer some how
2. do my editing with some kind of program
3. burn the edited file to DVD in some manner.

I don't know of any older editing software as my machine is older.

can anybody help?
