Probably the wrong forum, but i'll give it a try. Just want to get some of your opinions on the best printer for printable media. I've done a search and can't come up with any of the posts on this subject. I've been using the ole sharpie for a while, and just want a change i guess. I'm leaning towards the Epson R220. Any other suggestions or is this the best buy for the money? And also, is it even worth it(money wise) to get a printer? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Thanks for the reply, teflonmyk. I was thinkin' as much. Also, thanks for the advice on the ink. Would it be cheaper for me to buy the printer online as compared to a retail store, or is it one of those "shop around" kind of things? Any other suggestions, i really want to get a few replies and see what the genereal concensous is around here as these forums have been very helpful when it comes to getting advice. Again, thanks

Shop around. The best deal on my Epson was at Best Buy at the time that I bought it. The different office supply and computer stores are always having intermittent deals on the 200 series Epson online and in brick & mortar. I got mine for $79.95 out the door- no rebates involved, and shortly after, I saw deals for as little as $50.00 (they were rebate-based deals for $99.99 and a $50.00 rebate) and a couple with the printer free with a qualified digital camera purchase. Some of the cameras were as low as $100. Meritline seems to currently have the best deal on good compatible inks (Ridisc).

Atl- I just got a refurbished R220 from the Epson store Clearance Center for $71, with free shipping. Ordered it Thr afternoon, it was at my door Friday morning. Be careful if you buy one from someone on Ebay, sometimes they don't come with any ink cartridges.
I've used it with TY Valueline DVD-R and they look great.

@Creddly............
I checked the link to the printer, you provided. It doesn't say anything, anywhere, about the ability to print on printable discs. So, if you want to print directly onto printable discs, it doesn't look like this is the printer you want. You'll want the R220 or R320, etc.
If you've already ordered it, I'm afraid you've got the wrong one coming to you............
Good luck!

This is the official description from the Epson website!
Standalone printing
Print without a computer. Simply insert your memory card or connect your compatible camera, mobile phone 1 or storage device directly to the Epson Stylus Photo RX700 to start printing instantly. The innovative PhotoEnhance function adjusts the colour and contrast of your image so you get the best possible output with minimum effort. And you can even print an image, CD or DVD design onto printable disks.

Ok............they said it on your newest link.
I'm glad. I hated thinking that you'd get the printer, open it, and find out it didn't. I can't believe they didn't mention it on your original link. That's a selling feature! Glad it does what you want. :-)
Here in the U.S., the ink costs $39.95, at: http://www.meritline.com/epson-stylus-photo-rx700-printer.html but I have no idea what it's gonna cost you in the U.K. I kinda doubt that Meritline will ship to the U.K., or it will cost more than it's worth.
Good luck!

I've got the Printer here now! It is a beast! You should see the CD prints. When I tried my first one today, it was not what I was expecting, in a good way.
It's like the real bloody thing.
If you wanna fork out a bit of dosh for a printer, get the Epson RX700. What a machine!!!
