Hello, I need help with windows xp pro

I Am trying to intall windows xp pro on my pc well i boot up the windows cd and when i go to try and install it.. it wont recognize my harddrive.. i only have one hard drive..

Intel Pentium 4 530, 3.0Ghz With HT Technology
Dell Dimension 8400
1024 MB DDR2-400
HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B
PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate
RADEON X300 Series (128 MB)
seagate 7200 RPM 160gig HD

A long shot, but is the drive recognized in the system BIOS? It should show up on the initial boot screen of listed drives...if it is, but not with XP setup..use the drives diagnostic/setup CD or floppy disk to intialize the drive and set up it's primary NTFS partition.

If all else fails, or the diagnostic disk recognizes a problem..you may have to replace the drive.

Yea the drives recognized in the bios and its also recognized with windows xp home but not when i try windows xp pro... and what cd to do that diagnostics?? where can i get one?

The drive will have come with a diagnostic CD from Seagate...if not you can download the prog from the Seagate site, Support section.

is the drive sata or ide because if sata than need to load drivers on when xp says f6 for 3rd party drivers?

need to copy motherboard sata driver onto floppy than when xp asks you to press f6 for 3rd party driver, insert floppy & press f6.

how would i go about doing that? because this is a factory built pc i dont got no cd's for my hd and mobo and such..
