I had my computer burning dvd's in 20-30 mins for everything, but some settings had changed and now they take up to 2 1/2 hours. i remember something popping up when i installed dvdfab decrypter that ask if i wanted to chnge something with my memory i hit yes and it made it run faster and smoother, i just can't remember what it was. If anyone can let me know how to reenable what ever that was i would greatly appreciate it! thanks

Joe

The only way I can have my software rip and burn any faster is if I turned off everything (including the Internet!). Try turning off anti-virus, anti-spyware tools. If that doesn't make it go faster, then turn off the Internet (unplug your modem) and disable everything in your system tray. Then it should go a whole lot faster. Try RipIt4Me and see if that makes things a whole lot faster. The link is in my sig (#4).

your burner most likly is in PIO mode it should be in DMA mode
open up device manager and un install the IDE secondary Controller then reboot your computer windows will reinstall the controller and your burner will return to DMA mode

Sounds like your burner may have slipped into PIO mode, here is a guide to change it back to DMA....

Now that you're running good again, make sure that you don't burn them too fast. Even though disks claim to be 8x or 12x, it's a good way to get lots of coasters or cause a problem with clarity.

It took me awhile to learn my lesson, but now I burn the small movies at 4x and the big ones at 2x.

Try burning at half the rated speed of the blank...burning too slow can sometimes be just as bad as burning too fast.
