You save the game at the end of the first disc, reset, then load the second

You'll need swap magic or modchip then download HDLoader (all the instructions in the site I gave you)

so i have to use the disc everytime i want to boot up the hdloader thing.......im used to xbox modding i know everything about that but i want to go into ps2 territory u have to give me the exact url address so i can read it and get everything right i have to learn everything like i did with my xbox. ok so what is it i can buy that lets me boot into hdloader that supports 250gb because the one i see supports only 200gb. give me the exact item i need to buy to finish this little equation. dont want to have to use swap disc or any of that crap i didnt like it one bit....it kept messing up my damn disc tray.

OK, if you want your PS2 to be like your Xbox then here is what you do.
1. Get a DMS4 Pro SE Modchip installed
2. Get a compatible HDD
3. your done.
That is with a chunky style PS2
With a slimline it is a bit more costly, but very similar
1. get your slimline put into an HD Combo case with your compatible HDD and a DMS4 Pro SE Modchip
2. your done.
Once you have that chip it has all the features you need to run the HDD. It has a built in HD Loader, a built in cheat device, ability to load (ELF) homebrew software and games, backup games, DVD9 back up games, back up movies from your region, has support for ata inetrnal HDD's larger than 120GB, and so on.
I am just the opposite, have had PS2's for years but just got my modded Xbox(chipped of course) a year ago and have not had time to learn nearly enough about it :)

thanks alot you really helped me with this because i want to run it like my box but just that lil factor of having to swap a disc really turns me off to the whole thing im extremely lazy but hey i like having a tricked out console so i can actually use like say a 250gb western digital in my ps2? oh and is there a solderless solution to this because i kinda cant solder for my life...lol

250 Western Digital is what i have, and you can go bigger if you like. The chip (DMS4 Pro SE) once flashed will have everything you need to Format the drive, install games, delete games and all that.
A PS2 can also be set up so it Can FTP just like an Xbox does, it is just more complicated.
And with the ToxicOS V0.41 and it's built in cheat device, cheat codes can be converted with Max Convert and stored right on the chip, so it would be pretty much like having trainers on the Xbox
They also have media player you can get for PS2 if that interests you.
Solderless is not the way to go, but they do have a DMS4 Pro EZI chip which is solderless, i do not know if the HD Combo case install would require it, but i would think so.
Another advantage is the HD Combo case has 2 fans to keep everything cool, because that HDD will give off lots of extra heat.
If you can not solder then just contact somewhere like Teammodders who can do the whole install of the chip, HD Combo Case, and HDD and just send it back to you complete and ready to go.
That is what i did.

well yea i was looking at the solderless counterpart of that chip and it does support the hd combo but im gonna use it on a fat ps2 and i am goin to modify the case and put another fan in there some where prolly on the outside and just make it cooler.

they make a USB fan that may work. Or just get a small house fan and point it at the place where it takes in the air and it will give you more air flow than any fan you could install into it.

as long as it is a compatible hard drive it doesn't matter where you buy it.
Just be very careful installing the chip as i have seen many people have problems doing the solderless chip installs.
And flashing the chip is simple
http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/ go there and download the ToxicOS V0.41
unzip it to get to the files if it is compressed, i forget if it is
Then use any CD burning program to burn the CUE file to a CD
Then stick it in the PS2 like any other disc and follow the 1 or 2 instructions it gives you and your chip is flashed.

whether you can change the chip or not depends on which one you have, although personally i think it's too much of a risk doing that. network adaptor and HDD you can interchange without problem

agree, the best chips are soldered in and would be very hard to change, and the solderless you would end up breaking if you tried switching it too much

if you really must switch your chip between two consoles, what you can do (btw I'm not saying this is a good idea I'm just saying it's a awy to do it) is to solder wires to the console for the chip (without connecting these wires to the chip), then solder wires to the chip, then use connectors to connect the two sets of wires together. Personally I'd say just get a chip for each console though, save you the trouble, network adaptor and HDD though, just switch them around when you need to, it takes 1 minute (if that) to take the thing out and put it on another console

well the reason i ask is because ok i have a modded ps2 with me right now which is kinda shitty i might add but it does play burnt games, now im thinking of just gettin the latest software that will support a 250gb right now.....im not too sure which that would be but u guys can help me with that situation i bet.....anyways yea i have a modded ps2 with me now and later im goin to receive my newer version ps2 its in another state right now cuse of moving around. but i would like to get the chip with that and do the whole boot up to the menu and play my games on the fly. now that means i would have to buy just one chip and one software disc to boot my current shitty modded ps2 right? the chip could be used for the unmodded ps2 in another state.

What version is your new PS2? If you have a slim PS2 then you need to get HD Combo if it's a V12/V13, and if you have V14 then your only option is USBAdvance, which is slow and has bad compatibility.

in that case just get a chip for the other PS2 (with HDD your best option is DMS4 Pro - not cheap but ToxicOS is the best program for games from HDD), otherwise if you don't want to spend that money you could just get a cheap chip and run HDLoader from disc
