A simple method would be to use TMPGEnc to encode it to MPEG-2 DVD compliant and then author it with your favorite program. I recommend using Dazzle DVD Complete. That's all.

so select my 800meg svcd mpg file on TMPEnc and encode it as a dvd on the wizard (e.g dvd ntsc (16:9) is that what your suggesting? will that give the file a new file type rather than .mpg? can that then be burned straight onto a dvdr and work as a 'dvd' not a 'svcd'?

also i noticed when trying this just now that when convering a 800svcd mpg it says that the new file will be like 2.4gig however it is a 3disc svcd movie therefore i dont think all 3 files after conversion will fit on 1 dvdr? oe is there a way around this?

also when selecting a dvd type to convert to i get the choice of CBR or VBR etc..
isnt a dvd type vob/ifo/bup files? sorry i am very new to this and still learning...
i used mydvd sonic and played around with that, and merged all 3 svcd files together and converted them to a dvd compatible type (and it fitted ok on 1 dvdr) however it lost quality from the original svcd i took it from?

Using the TMPGEnc prograam will convert the file into mpeg2-dvd compatible. However, if you are doing htre disks, it will be a lot more than the one DVD R. You will need to use DVD SHrink or another similar program DVD2one to get the files back down to a reasonable size
