Sorry if this is the wrong forum as I am new to this

I have a Scientic Atlantic Explorer 8300 DVR and I would like to transfer recording from that to a DVD or CD. I do not have a DVD Recorder but I do have a laptop with DVD burner.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was looking at the specifications of your product...Nice! The thing is You've got a laptop so getting the video from your gadget to your laptop is kinda uphill. The only thing that comes to mind is getting a cheap capture device like DVD Xpress or equivalent and connect your Box to this device via RCA's or S Video Cable. The thing is the end product won't be High Def. You need a Desktop with a killer Video Card (and maybe some adapters) to get the most of it.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

When I mentioned DVD Xpress, I didn't exactly implied a recommendation. I have an old model, which I got really cheap on ebay because it was used. It does it for me. I can record shows on my Dish Network PVR 501, and if they are good, I capture them via the device. I later edit it with some software I've got and transfer to DVD. You both have to look into capture devices for your particular needs and settings.

The DVD Xpress model I own is very basic. You can get it for around $50 new. If you have a portable media player like iPod video or Sony PSP, you might be interested in newer models. They cost about $100 and can convert video directly to portable formasts too.

These are some of the companies that make USB 2.0 Capture Devices:

Tell me exactly what you would like to do and maybe I can help you choose the right model.

PS I forgot to mention some of the newer models have an integrated TV tuner so you can also capture your local channels (if you dont get them via DBS).

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?
