Hey I've decided to buy a new digital camera for around $300-$450 CAD. I'm looking for a 6.0MP camera which will be good in different lighting, and prints good quality 4x6 or larger photos. I'm looking for a Cannon or Sony. Could you guys recommend a good quality camera in my price range. Any help would be appreciated since I just started looking into this.

I have heard alot of good things about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 But I have yet to test it for myself. The price is about $350-380

EDIT: I just did a google search and found this review. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonyh2/

That camera looks good, but I'm looking for a thinner one, like the ones that fit in your pocket.

The Canon SD600 is AMAZING. I just purchased it on Friday and it's fantastic. I've had the same dillema in trying to choose and finally picked this one. Could not be happier.

I know this camera is a little more than you want to spend and a little fatter than your after, but it is a very good camera for the price.

What kind of pictures are you goin to take with it, sports, still portraits, etc..?

It will help you narrow down the myriad of choices to know what you want to do with the camera and pick one capable of doing it thats within your budget.

If your looking for something that is good for low light situation your definetly goin to what something that has Image stabilization on it.

Also the smaller the f-stop on the lens the better it will be for low light, f2.8 being a "fast lens" and the larger the number the "slower it is".

@molder ... that is an awesome piece of machinery; I just might get it myself upon a little more research. I do a lot of artwork (painting, drawing) and I work a lot from photographs. I was looking for something with good telephoto, macro and low light capabilities. I often work with an enlarged small section of a photo so the 9mmp will also come in really handy for enlargement. Thanks for posting that.
