Hello,
I am looking for a good DVD burner for my computer that will be good at backing up DVD's, Games, and CD's. I noticed that some are better than others, so that is why I am asking.

What brands/models are known to be bad?

I was looking at the NEC 3550A. How is that model?

Can any of you recommend any good brands/models that will be good overall and good at backing up discs? Thanks.

I can recommend the BenQ 1650 burner.

Great little burner for the price. Very solid. I think you will find a few people will agree on this one.

Cool! Thank you guys for your help! I'll go and check those out and compare them. Do you guys know anything about the NEC 3550A? Thanks for your time.

Oh and also, what will I NOT be getting if I buy an OEM version of a drive? Is it better to buy OEM or retail?

i would go with the benq. ive had 2 sonys and a nec, and the benq has been the best so far. if money isnt a problem, ive heard plextor is the way to go. i just cant seem to get myself to pay almost 3 times as much for one(plextor) though.

Another one for the BenQ the 1640,1650,1655 are excellent.

Sorry but I have never owned a NEC burner but I did a little search and found what other people have thought of the NEC http://www.pricegrabber.com/rating_getprodrev.php/product_id=1384...
