I have a Liteon DVD Burner and a Liteon DVD-rom. How do I update the firmware on those drives ? I went to my control panel, systems --> Hardware devices and choose to update the Drivers for the DVD drives but just searches and indicates that no further drivers are available even though my current drivers are from 2001.

I'm not having any problems with my DVD drives actually, I just think I should update them since the drivers are from 2001 hehe.

Also yesterday I was cloning a lot of DVDs with CloneDVD2 + AnyDVD and usually DVDs take about 32 minutes to clone but all of a sudden when I moved on to the 5th or 6th DVD, it started taking 50 minutes instead for all the dvds after that. I used System Restore to restore my computer back to the day before that and then after that it was back to it's usualy 32 mintues pere DVD cloning. I'm not sure if that sudden slow down in cloning a dvd was due to my old drivers or firmware. Or am I wrong is saying drivers and firmware are the same thing ?

Here is the Lite-on site, just put in your drive and you can dl the current fw.

Or go to the RPC site and check the current there and download. Scroll down and find Lite-on

Also check and make sure your DMA is on and your drives are not in PIO mode.

Sometimes when ripping a number of movies it is best to exit the program, so the cache can clear out.

Hello.

Drivers and firmware are not the same. Drivers are software that allow peripherals like your DVD burner to communuicate with the operating system. Your burner firmware is software residing in EPROM inside your burner that contains instructions for how to burn the various media.

Firmware updates can be found at the vendor's web site as well as here:

You can also let DVD Decrypter try to find your firmware uodates. Select Drives... from the Tools menu and then Check for Firmware Updates....

No none of those programs will check for you. Decrypter will send you to the RPC site for your update.
