what model of ps2 is it?
a friend of mine experienced the same problem, but without the dog. he had a fat v7.
was the ps2 on at the time?
they are not designed for impact so if it was some electrical device on the motherboard may have been damaged in the process (tripped out). take it to a pro and get expert advice electrics is very dangerous thing to play with.
but!!!
my friends was off so we plugged the strip back into its housing and it was ok (luckly). you have to remove the whole of the casing to get the the spot. on the end of silver strip there should be (if i remember) 4 strips of silver showing on one side and the other side is covered with blue tape (ps2 v7). when you locate the housing the 4 silver strips should be face down.unclip the housing cover, insert the end of the power ribon, clip the lid closed. this fixed my mates ps2 (he was going to throuw it away anyway)
i know what its like to have a ps2 go missing in action so good luck
