Hey all, to start with, I've got a PS2 V4 (fat one) with a Ghost2 mod, I've loaded HDLoader(0.8a, I think) onto Memory but whenever I try to backup a game, it says "insert a PS2 disc" I've tried a few diffent games but to non avail.
Anyone for some advice? thanks to y'all in advance.
Your laser seems to have problems, and if you're planning to use it to read games into the HD you're pretty much writting it's death sentence. Just use your PC to do the deed with WinHIIP, or try HDL Dump (slower, but it'll be probably as fast as reading from your PS2 laser drive anyway! lol). Those are my suggestions. Even if your laser burns out, since you're chipped and you're loading from memory card, you won't really miss the laser that much unless of course your use DNAS ID games that need to be read with the drive.
I highly doubt it's the laser, I can play any backup copy I've got and even the original PS2 games with no probs at all...
The reason why am not using WinHIIP is that, it seems to be a bit of a hassle to open up the PC whenever I need to copy a game.
Any more thoughts...? I thought it might be my copy of HDLoader... Does the free HDLoader and whatever else there is makes any difference to the backing up process?
Well, the hassle pays off in quicker installation, higher laser life for your PS2 and ultimately a longer PS2 life! I dunno about you, but the hassle is worth it. BTW, you can always purchase USB enclosure to avoid having to open the case every time. It's a real pain, I know, but I would really advise you to do it nonetheless.
Taking the case apart isn't all that much trouble in my opinion, and you really save a lot of time compared to copying the game from PS2, transferring over ethernet, or even USB Enclosure, but the amount of time you save is probably not significant unless you copy a few games at a time

This is the spec of Ghost2, looking at it I think you'll always have to use CD/DVD to boot your HDLoader :(
I leave the PSX game in there and never take it out. I don't really run discs on the PS2 anymore. Very rare ocassions, like for a match of Monster Hunter.
