OK,

here is what I had to do in order to get the Beatles Anthology to work.
I used platinum and xpress...either one to make it work.

First, using platnum or express just make a simple copy as you would any normal DVD. This will make a copy of the 1st episode on the disk. You're half way there...well almost :)

Next, put the original DVD into the drive again.....using platinum or xpress click the button to copy the complete DVD. Also I should mention you need to know where your temp files are being written. I found it best to specify that directory in the options button. So, read the whole DVD onto the hard disk as if you were copying the whole disk and now both episodes are on your hard drive.
Obviously the issue on why it won't write is that the resulting group of files will not fit on a 4.7GB DVD recordable disc. So I went to the temp directory and looked at each VOB file with a viewer...use whatever you have.
I pieced together which VOB's went with which episodes. For example on Disc 2 I found the 3rd episode consists of VOB 3,4,5....actually VOB 3 has parts of each episode on it.
Since I already have episode 3 made on the first pass I know I can delete VOB files 4 & 5.
I need to leave VOB 3 because it has part of episode 4 on it. Also leave all the other small files because they basically tell your dvd player the order the VOB's need to be played and also how the VOB 3 is split up so it can access it at the correct point for playing. Do all of this editing only after the complete DVD is read in and it asks you for a blank DVD to be inserted. That is when you do the editing, deleting of files. Once I got rid of VOB 4 & 5 I went back and inserted a blank DVD and hit the write/start button and it burned the other episode onto the 2nd disc and it plays perfectly. Doing this brought the size of files under the 4.7GB needed to write the DVD.

Sorry this got wordy but I'm trying to make it as detailed as possible....this one took me awhile to figure out.

THX,
swanaz

I had the same problem with DVD XCopy and Beatles Anthology. Here's what I did:
I downloaded a trial version of 1Click DVD Copy, which allows you to make three discs over 14 days. It worked flawlessly on Beatles Anthology Disc 1, compressing everything to one DVD. You'll need to download a proram called DVD For Free (DVD43) to defeat the copyguard. You can get it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm
